Time That Becomes Art
The dial becomes a canvas, a showcase for the extraordinary craftsmanship of horology. It offers a stage for stories, fantasies, and identities. In these six unique models, tradition and innovation strive for a beauty that goes far beyond mere decoration.
Hermès Arceau “Rocabar de Rire”
The Charming Rascal
At Hermès, playful wit meets technical finesse. At the push of a button, a mischievously grinning horse sticks out its pink tongue—a small animated spectacle brought to life through engraving, miniature painting, and mechanical ingenuity. The striped background made of real horsehair marquetry references a classic Hermès pattern: the watch is a nod to the cashmere and silk scarf “Rocabar de Rire” by Dimitri Rybaltchenko.
Chanel BoyFriend “Coco Art”
Pop Culture on the Wrist
At Chanel, the watch becomes a pop-art-style art object. Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel appears twelve times on the dial of the Boy·Friend “Coco Art,” series, limited to 20 pieces and printed using an elaborate pad printing process on pink Grand Feu enamel, framed by baguette-cut sapphires. The speech bubble “Time for Chanel” adds a touch of subtle irony. The deep black calfskin strap and black case coating reflect the Maison’s classic, elegant aesthetic. The result is an artistic and tongue-in-cheek portrait—a tribute to fashion, watchmaking, and the Chanel myth.
Van Cleef & Arpels “Pont des Amoureux”
At Van Cleef & Arpels, the dial becomes the stage for a quiet love story. Two figures—he represents the hours, she the minutes—walk toward each other across a Parisian bridge. Twice a day, they meet in the middle for a kiss: fleeting, yet eternal. This daily rendezvous is made possible by a sophisticated retrograde movement. The scene unfolds in delicate grisaille enamel, an ancient technique that creates fine shading through light and transparency. The bridge itself is modeled in white gold, with small gemstones adding subtle accents. This is watchmaking as storytelling—tender, poetic, and full of longing.
Cartier Panthère Joaillerie
On the artistically designed dial of the Panthère Joaillerie, Cartier’s iconic panther comes to life—not wild, but elegant and mysterious. The design is both figurative and abstract: its shimmering coat emerges from geometric patterns and the play of light. Black enamel, diamonds, and orange spessartine garnets form an abstract composition. The panther is more than an animal—it is a symbol of strength, elegance, and the stylized heritage of the House of Cartier. The watch itself resembles a precious medallion—mysterious and captivating.
Piaget Altiplano Métiers d’Art
The new Altiplano Métiers d’Art by Piaget is a tribute to decades of merging masterful craftsmanship with refined aesthetics—as well as to the close collaboration with renowned enamel artist Anita Porchet. Since 2006, she has lent her extraordinary talent to the Maison, especially in the field of miniature painting. With admirable patience and artistic dedication, she transforms imaginative motifs into translucent, luminous compositions. Each dial becomes a unique piece—a poetic dialogue between technique and emotion.
