An exclusive interview with the founders of Maison Ë

Let us delve into the minds of the visionaries shaping the future of luxury storytelling. Read into an exclusive interview with Franziska and Gregor Piëch, the founders of MAISON Ë, along with Co-CEO Taskin Yüksel.

MAison Ë What inspired you to develop and launch a new luxury lifestyle magazine?

FRANZISKA & GREGOR PIËCH We eventually realized that there wasn’t anything out there that truly resonated with us. After a day filled with meetings and problem-solving, we would like to get our hands on something that offers well-prepared information—something that would give us interesting, beautiful, and inspiring topics for the dinner table. Observing the media landscape, we also felt that well-written and thoroughly researched stories had become increasingly rare, as had generous formats that give images the space they deserve. Formats have become smaller, paper thinner and stories more replaceable. We seem to have moved away from high-quality journalism. Stories were simply bought in and budgets for original productions were slashed everywhere. Magazines had become mere carriers of advertisements, often lacking substance, unfortunately. We couldn’t accept this because it affects our society and our language, and not for the better as we like to think. With MAISON Ë, we want to revive and give space to quality journalism, complemented by the possibilities of adding video and audio to offer different perspectives on a topic, depending on the situation, mood or interest.

MAison Ë You set the tone. How do you decide what goes into your magazine?

FRANZISKA Our target audience is very discerning, so we carefully consider the relevance of every story. For major stories, we strive to have multiple narrative layers to offer different perspectives on a topic. We took our time developing MAISON Ë and studied our future readership closely. We have a very clear picture of who we’re speaking to and with, and we’re convinced that our approach fills a gap on several levels. The development of MAISON Ë’s brand and appearance is the result of our strategic process. We’re here to offer a solid and valuable product with a positive and uplifting view of the world.

MAison Ë You bring extensive publishing and entrepreneurial experience. What makes this project special for you?

TASKIN Yüksel We’ve noticed that content is losing relevance and communication often feels generic—and there’s nothing I dislike more than generic things. Our goal is to make every message and product as individual and unique as possible, far from any standardization. Therefore, we seized the opportunity to rethink media—free from constraints, norms, and pressure.

With MAISON Ë, we take the liberty to reinterpret the luxury and lifestyle sector, engaging across various channels. We embrace a digital-first strategy while not neglecting the tactile power of a physical product, produced at a level of quality previously unattained. This approach allows us to shape brand collaborations in a multifaceted way that goes beyond traditional advertising spaces and focuses on the essence of a medium: conveying information. We see ourselves as ambassadors for curated brands that fit perfectly into our world. We think in terms of synergies, creativity, and transformation. With subtle ideas and solutions, we create brand experiences that resonate and stick. For us, it’s about forging a deep connection and experiencing something special. We believe in the currency of relevance, which goes far beyond circulation numbers and sales statistics. Creating MAISON Ë is more than just a process; it’s the result of my passion. Sharing this realization with Franziska and Gregor Piëch and creating something that embodies both relevance and aesthetic excellence touches, moves, and inspires me in indescribable ways.
