Louis Vuitton’s Journey to
Timeless Beauty
A legacy of trunks, bags, and garments is reborn in La Beauté Louis Vuitton—timeless beauty products that embody French elegance in every detail, expressing the Maison’s masterful craftsmanship in a distinctly refined way.
(Next Chapter) When Louis Vuitton introduced its first trunks in 1854, it marked not only the beginning of a new era in travel—it was the start of a story forever linked to the concept of art de vivre. Every detail, every seam, every brass rivet on those trunks reflected the philosophy that true luxury arises where functionality and exceptional artistry meet.
More than 150 years later, the house opens a new chapter: the launch of La Beauté Louis Vuitton. A line that pays tribute to the Maison’s core values—craftsmanship, timelessness, and elegance. The collection, launched in August 2025, includes 55 lipsticks in “LV Rouge Matte” and “LV Rouge Satin” finishes, ten tinted balms under “LV Baume Sheer,” and eight eyeshadow palettes called “LV Ombres.”
From Trunks to Jars
In the world of Louis Vuitton, beauty has never been just surface-deep. Even the iconic trunks, designed for the grand journeys of modernity, combined aesthetics with functionality. This principle now carries through to the beauty line: every product—from texture to packaging—tells a story of precision and devotion.
The packaging is more than a container: it references the metal fittings of historic trunks, bears the monogram that has become a universal symbol of luxury, and reminds us that the exterior is always a reflection of the interior.
Heritage as Living Inspiration
For Louis Vuitton, heritage is not a museum relic but a creative resource. In the Maison’s archives and the ateliers of Asnières lies a story that continues to inspire. La Beauté builds on this legacy: blending traditional perfume-making with contemporary cosmetic formulation, translating the house’s color vocabulary into palettes, and adapting fashion codes into the language of beauty.
Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, the house’s Maître Parfumeur, composed the scent notes of the lipsticks. Creative direction comes from Pat McGrath—the legendary makeup artist who has shaped the beauty DNA of Louis Vuitton’s runway shows for years.
Craftsmanship in Contemporary Form
At Louis Vuitton, craftsmanship is more than tradition—it’s the heart of every creation, whether in leatherwork or perfumery. That same care runs through the makeup line: precise formulations developed in close collaboration with leading experts, combining quality and innovation.
Pat McGrath, arguably the most influential makeup artist of our time, describes her role with palpable excitement: “After more than twenty years behind the scenes of Louis Vuitton’s shows, I’m thrilled to contribute to the launch of La Beauté Louis Vuitton—a symbiosis of exceptional know-how, creativity, and innovation.”
The packaging was designed by Konstantin Grcic, one of Europe’s most renowned industrial designers, known for his work with brands like Magis and Vitra. His starting point: the golden ring. “A detail inspired by the brass fittings of Louis Vuitton’s legendary trunks. It’s a tribute to heritage—and a strong identity marker for this line.”
La Beauté is more than cosmetics—it’s a new chapter of Louis Vuitton, written in color, form, and ritual.
The Art of Formulation
The true artistry of La Beauté Louis Vuitton lies not only in design and packaging—but in the formulations themselves. The lipsticks are highly pigmented, designed to last up to eight hours, and also nourish the lips: with natural waxes from upcycled rose, jasmine, and mimosa blossoms—flowers symbolic of the Louis Vuitton house—alongside shea butter and hyaluronic acid.
Eighty-five percent of the formulas consist of caring ingredients that deliver up to twelve hours of continuous hydration; the balms, up to 48 hours. Louis Vuitton also brings subtle innovation to its eyeshadows: plant-based squalene—whose structure mimics natural skin lipids—ensures a comfortable feel, while shimmer in pearlescent, metallic, and sparkling finishes is embedded in a transparent gel. This allows light to reflect in sophisticated ways—for maximum radiance without compromising comfort.
The Ritual of Beauty
For Louis Vuitton, beauty is a ritual—deeply rooted in French culture. Unlike the fast pace of many markets, Louis Vuitton emphasizes longevity: all products are refillable, a nod to the Maison’s leather goods designed to last a lifetime.
Even the ritual itself is aesthetic: the packaging feels substantial in the hand and exudes quiet luxury. The color palette remains subtle and refined—deep reds with hints of leather brown, an understated elegance that reflects the house’s DNA.
With La Beauté, Louis Vuitton creates a new language where beauty is seen as a continuation of fashion. Each product is part of a larger story that began in 1854—and today, in a lipstick shade or an eyeshadow palette, writes a new chapter.
