ART SG, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore
17-19 January 2025, VIP Preview and Vernissage 16 January
Singapore’s art scene is brimming with optimism, its collectors fueling an energy as eclectic as the city-state itself. At the third edition of ART SG, international stalwarts – Gagosian, Thaddaeus Ropac, White Cube – will rub shoulders with rising stars from all corners of the globe. Southeast Asia takes center stage, with a third of exhibitors rooted in the region; look out for Ames Yavuz, Gajah Gallery, and Ota Fine Arts. A threefold structure keeps things lively. The main section anchors the show with multi-artist showcases: ‘Focus’ dives deep into solo and duo practices, and ‘Futures’ spotlights fresh talent from young galleries. Beyond the booths, expect boundary-pushing installations, a film program helmed by architect Stefano Rabolli Pansera, and sharp insights from a series of talks led by Delfina Foundation’s Aaron Cezar.
Since its debut in 2017, NOMAD has perfected the art of the nomadic fair as envisioned by Giorgio Pace and Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte. With stops in Capri, St. Moritz, Monaco and Venice, each edition of the roving fair transforms a spectacular, often exclusive location into a temporary cultural hub for dialogues between art, architecture, craft, and design. In 2025, NOMAD returns to St. Moritz, where the former Klinik Gut – currently a construction site – will be reimagined as an immersive exhibition framed by the grandeur of the Swiss Alps. A magnet for global power players, NOMAD’s ‘Circle’ membership ups the ante with exclusive previews, intimate gatherings, and a curated calendar of special events, synchronizing high style with high-level networking.
ZONAMACO México Arte Contemporáneo, Mexico City
5-9 February 2025
Founded in 2002 by Zélika García, the ZONAMACO platform has become something of a cultural powerhouse, with dedicated fairs for photography, design, and antiques. Its February showcase of contemporary art is reigning as Latin America’s largest art fair. For its 21st edition in 2025, four curators set the pace. Artistic director Direlia Lazo helms the main section, where major players like Cadogan, COHJU, and PİLEVNELİ mingle with Mexico City icons Kurimanzutto, Labor, and OMR. Esteban King Álvarez’ modern art part rewinds to spotlight early 20th-century luminaries, while Manuela Moscoso curates ‘SUR’, highlighting voices from the Global South. Meanwhile, ‘EJES’, led by Bernardo Mosqueira, extends the dialogue by giving the floor to perspectives of a ‘critical and poetic’ nature.
Frieze Los Angeles
20-23 February 2025
The sixth edition of Frieze Los Angeles lands at Santa Monica Airport, making itself at home in a structure by Kulapat Yantrasast’s acclaimed architecture practice WHY. Spiraling out through the city, an ambitious program featuring over 100 galleries places debutants like Mariane Ibrahim, Linseed, and Monique Meloche in the company of global heavyweights. Household names such as Blum, Regen Projects, and The Box ensure the city’s artistic pulse is unmistakably present. Curated by Essence Harden, the ‘Focus’ section will profile a bold new generation of artists. Unmissable exhibitions set to illuminate the city’s cultural institutions include ‘Olafur Eliasson: OPEN’ at the Museum of Contemporary Art and ‘María Magdalena Campos-Pons: Behold’ at the Getty.
