Cristine Bedfor is a fictional persona and the “imaginary friend” muse behind a luxury boutique hotel brand created by Spanish entrepreneur Cristina Lozano. What ties these hotels together are rooms that feel like chapters from a cherished travel diary—pages you can’t wait to keep writing.The Sevilla residence occupies a neo Mudéjar building that once housed a theater and a flamenco school, while the Málaga property is found inside a lovingly restored 19th century mansion. The interior design in both celebrates bold and bright fabrics, with all the comforts of home.

“Legendary” is an overused word, but for the Marbella Club it genuinely fits. Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe built it in 1954 as a private beach retreat—one of the reasons it still works so beautifully: it was never meant to be a hotel. The whitewashed bungalows scattered through four hectares of tropical gardens and the remarkable 6:1 staff to guest ratio make staying here feel less like checking into a resort and more like being welcomed as an exceptionally well looked after house guest.

Brigitte Bardot stayed here in the ’60s; Audrey Hepburn did too. Since then, the non member retreat has added a Thalasso spa, eight restaurants, and a children’s club—more than enough to keep loyal guests returning year after year.

Never heard of Casares? The regulars at Finca Cortesin would certainly like to keep it that way. Casares is one of the white-washed “pueblos blancos” of Andalusia that couldn’t be further away from the flashy Costa del Sol, and this nearby hotel gem is still a well-kept secret.

Nestled between golf greens and sea views, Finca Cortesin is all space, light, and calm luxury. The suites already feel like private residences, but for those looking to accommodate more, there are family villas, complete with all the service perks available in the hotel.

Perched 850 m above sea level in the hills behind Ronda, and surrounded by 1,700 acres of oak forest, wild jasmine, and Lusitano horses grazing without the slightest concern, La Donaira is anything but a typical luxury hotel.

Instead, it is an organic farm with nine individually styled rooms, a biodynamic vineyard, and a chef who treats vegetables with the reverence most kitchens reserve for wagyu. Meals are truly seasonal and served communally, which may not be for everyone. However, for those who have watched the sun rise over the Grazalema mountains with a horse standing nearby, priorities tend to shift quickly.

Many daytrippers move on before nightfall, yet Córdoba rewards those who linger—not just with its four UNESCO world heritage sites, but with the chance to spend a night or more at the Palacio de Bailio.

Beneath the hotel’s restaurant lie the remains of a Roman villa, beautifully presented and open to guests, and its indoor Roman baths feel straight out of antiquity. Córdoba is renowned for its oasis-like patios and the Palacio follows suit—its garden includes a swimming pool nestled among orange trees.
